In 1999, during preparation for the 2000 show, the Shreveport-Bossier Military Affairs Council (MAC) led the effort to assist Barksdale Air Force Base in making the annual Barksdale Defenders of Liberty Air Show a world- class military open house event. The 2000 show was the first year there had been an organized civilian push to engage with the Base on this project. We were successful in increasing public awareness within the community, for Barksdale, and plan to maintain a first-class event in order to bring in as many attendees to our community and the base as possible. While the MAC participates in many other worthwhile projects each year on behalf of the men and women of Barksdale, this is by far our largest and most visible project to the general public with the largest economic impact, and influence on our military-civilian partnership.
The support and financial commitment of our Corporate Partners and President's Club Members allows us all to enjoy this exciting entertainment and ensures our success in future years. We also wish to thank the leadership and the support staffs of Bossier City, Bossier and Caddo Parish, the City of Shreveport and Barksdale Air Force Base for supporting this unique relationship, which is truly a win-win combination for all three community task forces.
Our Air Show committee has been working tirelessly to bring you nationally renowned performers and the best pyrotechnic experience around. We promise an incredible experience for each of you and this year's show should have something for everyone. We hope you enjoy these talented aviators, both military and civilian, as they take to the skies to dazzle, amaze and thrill you!
See you at the Barksdale Air Force Base on March 25 and March 26, 2023!
